The Matriarch

The Matriarch

crying out beneath the earth
the cemetery seed
which dies before it has its birth
in a hail storm of need
leader of the fallen child
in nadir of man's greed
treasure in the vultures mouth
circling to feed
everything I have you left
it's value does exceed
the taxable trinkets of a life
that made the hearts of blind men bleed

The Darkest Rain

The Darkest Rain

BIRTH

the dawn of the sun
flourishing of cells begun
birthing decadence

FIRST STEP

one innovation
persuading the rest of feet
laziness prevails

PUBERTY
metamorphosis
strength divided by deceit
long arm of the law

REBELLION

growing civil unrest
the mass desecration of war
eminent demise

DESTINY

timeless prophecy
lethal black poisonous skies
death falling like rain

Uniqually Yours

Uniqually Yours

Einstein said the definition of insanity
is doing the same thing repeatedly
and expecting different results.
I really love how people run around
quoting this without the understanding
that repetition is the road to
advancement. That doing something over
and over brings enlightenment,
which leads to ideas. We don’t expect
different results. We know the
same thing is going to happen but,
accumulative experience brings
understanding of dynamics. This
leads to increased production of failure.
It is this success in failure that leads
to abstract thought which,
throughout history has paved the road
to innovation. The greatest
achievements of man have been inspired
by insanity. Remember Einstein was
a nut job so before you go quoting
him take a minute to think outside the
box.

My theory of relativity says that
we are all related as a species.
On a level we are all the alike
while at the same time so incredibly
different. We are all uniqual. What
this means, is from our common
understanding of existence, we create
a standard from which we stray to find
our own individuality this means that
from someone else’s point of view we are
all relatively nuts.

authors note: uniqual is a combination of
unique and equal

Love Under Glass

Love Under Glass

I'm tired of believing
that love is all it takes
as I keep apologizing
and make the same mistakes
a heart has many pieces
for easy are its breaks
do not hold to tightly
be in absence does it ache
teardrops fall in puddles
slowly turning into lakes
which somehow quench the fire
that once burned down Heaven's gates

shadow of darkness
endowed with Hells passion
releasing the slaves

When My Son Became a Man

When My Son Became a Man

Now that you're twelve I would just like to say
Your whole future my son will be forged from today
I would really like you to be prepared for tomorrow
So you never have to look back upon your life with sorrow
And what I tell you right now may someday help you enhance
All of the outcomes in life when you must take a chance
So come sit with me and we'll share a chat by the fire
You can tell me all the things out of life you desire
What is it you hope this life will turn out to be
Let us talk of your future and what you foresee
What will you do when you go out on your own
Will you be starting a family or just living alone
Do you have any plans like will you have a career
Or are you just going to labor for year after year
I know that this is a big bite to chew on as a kid
But I would like you to go farther than I ever did
And I know that you’re smart I just can't help but to worry
Cause I know just how life can sneak up on you in a hurry
When you start making choices you have options galore
Every one that you make will just keep bringing you more
And when you choose poorly you'll find you just shut a door
And once it's closed you'll never know what was in store
You need to think through every choice that you make
Cause some day you'll regret almost every mistake

The Lost Cross of Chaoss

The Lost Cross of Chaoss
(acrostic)

Tomorrow turns too yesterday
How fast it can appear
Everything you borrowed
Left without a tear
Office of a coffin
Society’s sickle cell
Taxes for the order
Chaos rings like a bell
Right or wrong forgotten
Our vanity cries out
Save me from my suffering
Still let me dish it out
Oh the joy of triumph
Feeling numb to shame
Chaos's always calling
He wants to play your game
Appears without a warning
Offers you no choice
Suffering's the outcome
Suffering's his voice

The Lake Stars

I've included my prose for this entry, it started as a haiku, but i converted it to a
haibun

THE (lake) STARS

the spring sun has started thawing the frozen countryside. I spend the afternoon
gliding
across a sheet of glass on lengthy points. silence banished by joyous bellows as the
ice
is scarred and chipped. time slides by while smiles are shared and glossy eyes come
in
line. Doom lingers in the rays warming more than the frigid lake. fingers meet. hearts
skip beat. the sweeping off of feet. unnoticed. the moon chases the sun from the
sky. the
population dwindles to two. me and you. the evening breeze chills the landscape.
we look
into the mirror below us and see that we are standing in the heavens.

frozen reflections
capturing infinity
starry sky on ice

Wants and Needs

Wants and Needs

all I ever wanted
was to feel like I belong
with someone who would listen
when my words all came out wrong

all I ever wanted
was someone to be there
to save me when I'm drowning
in a sea of self despai
r
all I ever wanted
was someone who could see
how much it really hurts
knowing that I'm me

but all I ever needed
was the chance to feel inside
that I had made a difference
that it mattered that I tried

Dinner and Friends

Dinner and Friends

I saw him smile at her
as he brought forth his hand
and i saw her smiling back
he had a flower from the land
so i wept a tear for every petal
that fell as the clock ticked on to eternity

i watched as he passed the plate
not just to her but to all who came
everyone always cherrished the feast
every mouth watering bite eased the pain
so i wept a tear for every morsel
the desire that forever tolls your name

i will for that ever be inspired
by that meager man so great
for god doesn't make men heroes
heroes are the memories men make
so i wept a tear for every sorrow
that his memory will replace
