Beautiful Rose

She stands at the garden wall
Smells the sweetness of the pink rose
A sweetness only matched by her beauty
A color only matched by the blush of her cheeks
The warm summer wind gently blows
Her short hair shining in the sun
It appears to be moving in the breeze
With the petals of the rose

I stand mesmerized as woman
And flower are one
Their beauty interchangeable
I catch a scent riding the wind
My nostrils flare
Is it her or the rose I smell

She plucks the petals one by one
I see her lips as succulent as the nectar saying
“He loves me, he loves me not”
I am caught up in this game
Feeling as if my love hinges
On the outcome of that last plucked petal
“He loves me,” the petal falls
Lightly to the dew filled, plush green grass
I breathe a sigh of relief for my beautiful rose
Lucky that it lives in my garden.

My Pearl

i will show you the

pearls of my heart

place them inside

the shell of your love

feed you the grains

of my tenderness

form a new stone

treasure of happiness

i will open the armor

that protects your fear

polish the white gem

that has grown within

let me wash you in

the streams of my soul

cleanse the sands of doubt

a precious pearl

taken from the

waters of uncertainty

i will cherish your

beauty forever

Painting My Heart

if i could paint a picture
of my heart
it would show
shades of you

i would see the hazel
of your eyes
the copper tones
of your hair
the crimson of
your breath
that flows in my veins

i would see the shades
of springtime green
as your laughter
fills my soul
the blue of yesterday
mixed with the gold
of a bright tomorrow

i would see the color
of your skin so fair
a beauty of
the summer clouds
the blush of red
on your cheeks
sweet nothings
whispered to you

i would see the palette
of your kindness
all the colors of
love you give

if i could paint a picture
of my heart
it would be
a reflection of you

Voodoo Doll

voodoo doll
with your sewn on smile
black button eyes
that cuts my darkness in half

you love me with
your haitian nights
down on the island
with your scented candles

you cast a spell on me
with your blue denim jeans
sparkling magic of
southern mystery

the french quarter
spins in my mind
slow down the stars
powder the moon

burn the incense
watch the ashes fall
from my silk laced spirit
pour the oil of desperation
my flaming imagination
paint me a vagueness
of your hottest desire

create your potion of sexuality
give me your animal attraction
i have forgotten my soul

you stab me with
the steel needle
i am you slave
take me my voodoo doll

so steamy are the bayou nights
standing in the cold
of alabama dreaming

Just One Bite

just one bite of you
like a fine fruit that fills
my mouth with sensation

tease my taste buds
sugary juice of love
you are my passion
my greatest pleasure

you are the candy that
melts in my mouth
not in my hands

like a strawberry dipped
in milk chocolate
a combination of flavors
that sears my lips
a tantalizing treat

come be my fruit of passion
my candy that pleases
these flames aching
for just one bite of you

Voodoo Kisses

porch light midnights
your voodoo kisses
drifting in the fog to
french quarter sidewalks
walking on the ghosts
of southern intimacy

antique balconies with
green wooden shutters
half shadows of you and i
sweet handmade pralines
floating on a cypress stump
walking on water for
a taste of you

casting your spell
with your chicken foot wand
you melt me into
the mississippi delta
pour me out on bourbon street
dancing in your trance
seductive velvet hips

speaking the language
of the mimes
i stumble in your stare
a riverboat gambler
with a tarot card hand
tempting my fate
in your eyes

misty moonlight dust lines
cover your seductive curves
take me with your erotic flair
bring me back home

the creaking of the front porch
drowns me in its painted glow
mosquitoes buzz
as i taste the flood
the ruby red lips
that are your voodoo kisses

Wishing To Hold Her Hand

How I greet thee star with my wish tonight!

Will you grant me a twinkle from your sky,

Do I dare dream upon your beauty bright?

Burning like candles with eternal flames,

Shine down, shine down and fill me with your light,

Fulfill the desire to hold her hand.

I want to reach out and hold her sweet hand,

How I wish upon you shining tonight.

I shall watch you glow until morning light!

Till dawn shall awake with my blue heart sky,

For my dreams burn hotter than the suns flames

She lives in my soul, eternally bright.

There is no other that can burn so bright

I long for her touch, the softness of her hand

Can you hear my plea, my words are like flames.

Will you wink your approval down tonight,

How long shall I stare into your dark sky?

I shall stare until the breaking dawn’s light.

Grant me this wish and be my guiding light

Lead me to the touch that makes my life bright

A love that’s as deep as your endless sky.

Let me melt into the touch of her hand,

This shall be the only wish I wish tonight,

Cast all other dreams upon unending flames.

I will light the match and fan my dreams flames,

Promise me her touch before the day light,

The smile on her face I can feel tonight.

Dear star, oh dear star, that shines down so bright,

Do you feel the pain as I long for her hand?

Feel the depth of my love in your moonlit sky.

How many wishes shall I place in the sky

Will you fall from the heavens in a ball of flames

Because of my request to hold her hand?

Please hear my words for I shall have no light,

Can you catch a falling star, no longer shining bright?

My wishes are yours to answer tonight.

I dream of her hand and pray to the sky

Searching tonight for the lustrous flames

My wish before sun light, grant me star bright!

Japanese Poppies

if i plant japanese poppies

would i become like samurai

walking with wisdom

could i broaden your horizons

seeds of knowledge...

it refreshes the mind

to become one with yourself

healthy solitude

be not afraid of my thoughts

my longings are universal

all made up of small stitches

carefully sewn together

the voyage of discovery...

tears take away pain

we deem those happy who cry

cleansing of the soul

to sit by one’s own fireside

and teach from within

a great joy

to learn a wonderful thing

listen to your mind...

if i can hear them

i like to thank the birds for song

my ears are working

if i plant japanese poppies

would i become like samurai

walking with wisdom

be quiet and calm

it is already there

My Angel of the Sun

you my angel of the sun
sent with your halo’s fire
burn your brand upon my heart
wrap me in your blazing wings
toss my embers into the sky
catch me when i fall
flaming with your love

you my angel of the sun
make me yours with the
voice of heaven’s choir
shine you golden eyes
upon my melting heart
like a volcano you flow
lava through my veins

you my angel of the sun
the radiance in me
a flame that grows with
every bright smile
the heat of my nights
and light of my days
wrap you aura around me
getting lost in your paradise

you my angel of the sun
watch me blush in the
touch of your love
lost in the moment
the warmth of your rays
the ecstasy in my soul
thankful that you shine on me

The Reflection In the Mirror

the mirror refuses to
show me see my refection
for every time i stand before it
i see only you in my eyes

the brown planets that used
to show me a broken heart
and cause me to question love
have been replaced by you

you are deep within me
it is your soul i see inside
taking away the view of
a man with no hope

replacing him with the
beauty of a woman who
fills his every thought
gives his vision a new day

his sight has been restored
to the dreams of tomorrow
made blind to the pain
he used to see within himself

the mirror refuses to
show me my reflection
instead i see the splendor
of you in my eyes
