Snow

The snow flakes gently fall
they wrap their icy embrace
around junipers of bloom
they float down and coat the globe in white
they cushion the streets
and cushion the hearts
the snow shuts the world out
it blinds and covers
it covers the grime
the blatant poverty
it makes everything look clean and pristine

Martyr

Down in deep dark Rwanda you will see
my martyred soul staring you in the face
will you be my savior or will you flee

I call you for help and you say just be
you tell me to wait and stay in my place
down in deep dark Rwanda you will see

why don't you come and at least set me free
my children will stay and keep their own pace
will you be my savior or will you flee

my best friend went on her own killing spree
all I could see was her agonized face
down in deep dark Rwanda you will see

I stood like a petrified dark black tree
stuck in an never ending deep dark haze
will you be my savior or will you flee

all I can offer is a humble plea
please come and stop this never ending chase
will you be my savior or will you flee
down in deep dark Rwanda you will see

Hand

I have hands that have sculpted the world
Drawn sand up from the Sahara and dumped it in Rome
Immersed itself in the Dead Sea and baptized millions at a time
Struck at underwater mountains and sunk Atlantis
Blew dark winds that have blotted out the sky
Drawn the sunsets and horizons
Just to please my eyes
I have hands that have the ability to destroy the world
But I choose to plant flowers and trees
That breathe for the world
To create the fish and set them to swimming
To create moons that illuminate paths
And suns that blaze upon all my creations

Exodus

Down south I went

Lost in the sea of men

Around the last bend

My company was sent

Into valleys and hills

My company trekked

Lost without a map

Count on the moon and stars

Overcome beasts of air

Land

And sea

Not without a price entailed

Infinite time hidden

Boys become men

Children don’t exist

Life is near an end

My company was sent

Campaigned to conquer

Down south we went

Down south we stayed
