Changes In Me

Open eyes to bright sunshine
This feels like the first day
Can't imagine what went before
Like a scene from an Ibsen play

The thought of you a lightning bolt
The kind that hits you twice
You are the catalyst demure
Sin pays a heavy price

I'm singing a new song
Euphoric and free
I can see the changes in you
Come see the changes in me

I sniped at the words you used
I was jealous of your look
A vision from a catwalk
A princess from a Tolstoy book

I've put these days behind me
The truth has been my guide
Your heart lighting up the way
Elegance personified

I need you more than you can see
So never forget
It's the changes in you
That caused the changes in me

Behold my new tune
Call it destiny
I bless the changes in you
Come bless the changes in me

Dream Lady

Imagine your dream alive to see
My thumping chest a reality
Imagine her hair, those wavy curls
Eyes as brown as chocolate swirls.

Imagine opening your eyes to see
My beating heart a reality
Imagine her face, a smile doth grow
Ice white teeth, lips like Cupid's bow.

Imagine her now standing there
My yearning soul too much to bare
Imagine her body, that perfect shape
A slender neck, kissing her nape.

Imagine her arms open wide
My every pore screams inside
Imagine touching her prefect skin
Her heart and soul a lottery win.

But all I have are dreams for now
Though every day i wonder how
To share her bed as my dream wife
To live in bliss, to complete my life.

Math

Pity the fool who lives by numbers
He counts his sheep while the sagacious slumbers
Imagines triangles equal or obtuse
Then numbers his thoughts by hypotenuse.

He dreams of trig and long division
Then stimulates his mind with a rhombus prism
Wet duvets caused by a linear quantify
He counts his orgasms by using pi.

Correlation coefficients make him smile
Exercises measured by the metric mile
A career built on a quadratic path
An idiotic devotion to anus numbing math.

Words

Ordinary thoughts of standard diction
Embellish themselves inciting friction
Words give understanding for how I feel
To give a 3D image, to sense the unreal.

Hyponyms to idioms, romantic collective nouns
Superlative adverbs widely used to counteract a frown
Imaginative ampersands symbolic of the time
Emphatic forms of rhetoric, devilishly rhyme.

Words remain our lifeblood, progressive and alive
To articulate emotion, a metaphoric drive
So appreciate the syllables and annunciate the prose
Give thanks to the words our language grows and grows.

Self Lies

Where do the lies go
That you tell yourself
Do they take root
And feed upon your health
Fattening themselves
Then like a dart
Finding nourishment
Into your willing heart.

Don't tell me
You don't feel them there.
The lies never die
They furnish their lair
What do we lose?
Self respect the ego fall
Our own sense of worth
The biggest lie of all.

A Kiss

I could kiss you like I used to
But it wouldn't be the same
These lips wear too many battles
A teasing tongue can't win the game.

You could kiss me like you used to
But it wouldn't taste as sweet
The years have beaten the ego
An empty soulless treat.

Still we insist on existing
And playing out this game
Not dead but very nearly
A fruitless, heartless shame.

I could kiss you like I used to
But it wouldn't be the same
Your lips are like a stranger
The taste is all that remains.

My Heart

I've got a heart like a hammer
I was born this way
And this is how I will die
And forever I must pay
It sees love in black and white
A fully grasping whole
If I hate it's not so bad
If i love then god help your haunted soul.

Dreams

Drift, drift, drift until the calm
Arrive at the crossroads of your sun
The peace you feel a release from harm
Metaphoric blast from a soporific gun.

A feeling deep from somewhere arrives
Gently caressing your visage
A sensory overload of pleasure drives
Tutoring perception, a perfect marriage.

You are control, you are the beat
The story is yours to make
The ending increases the body heat
Panting embarks a nervous wake.

Where was I then, how can it be
Interpretation a pointless thought
A dread creeps up, a fleeting see
Of a time I thought I sought.

Her Eyes

They dance and sing a merry tune
They sparkle with life, death immune
They shine like the most precious jewel
They choke my words, commanding and cool.

My jaw seems locked, lost for speech
My thoughts are cryptic, impossible to reach
My heady head bunged with clouds
My heart so heavy, a beating shroud.

An unsullied spring of purest blue
A cascade of beauty obviously true
A blink and a wink the dream has been slain
Another glimpse and I'm frozen again.

Philosophically Speaking

To produce a logic table
Clearly in your mind
Other possible worlds
The purpose of your find.

It's not empirical truth we seek
Only a Gedanken experiment
Knowledge that we cannot show
Proof that makes us sentient.

The greatest happiness or the moral right
Kant verses Mill
Empiricist or Rationalist
An argument of will.

So choose your dialectic
As Plato was taught
Because a life without philosophy
Is a life without thought.
