James Skinner Poem
the clouds
undressed
their tattered
clothes
of stained
gray,
the raindrops
lit up
like
tiny stars
underneath
the halos
of street
lights,
landing on
young
happy,
upturned
smiling faces,
dancing
their way
down to
the pavement
in puddles
under
small feet,
wading
to the storm
drains
and back out
to the sea,
only
to be
called home
again.

James Skinner Poem
that early light born
as the day begins to wake,
stretching itself out
the sky shining bright,
the sun smiling from above,
on the world below
the blooming flowers
were happy as the wind played,
coaxing butterflies
the grass waved kindly
at the crowds passing nearby
as the day went on,
the sun moved westward
while counting each passing hour
and laid down to sleep,
the moon took over,
sharing the night together
with glittering stars,
the night passed away,
leaving the new day to grieve
again, on its own.

James Skinner Poem
that waiting
gentle moon,
these are
the starlight
moments
you write,
sinking
into an ocean
of thoughts,
emotions,
your heart
is full,
your kisses
fresh
from your lips,
the darkness
weeps,
longing for you,
waiting
to be held,
the shadows
dream
of more
romantic times
until
the morning
awakens
and jealously
chases
the night
away.

James Skinner Poem
there stands
such
a gracious
elderly lady
positioning
herself
in the confines
of my fenced
back yard,
silent
as she speaks,
nor moving
her limbs
until the winds
comes
to rob her
of her dress,
swaying green
fabric,
but still
proud,
full of life
bearing
her children,
not
one or two,
but countless
numbers
all held close
to her breast,
growing,
waiting,
now,
in the late
time of fall,
each child
ready
to free
themselves,
a wave
goodbye
as she
reluctantly
watches
them
leave home.

James Skinner Poem
my hunger
grows
at the sight
of your
naked sunset,
scarlet moments
navigating
over your
perfectly smooth
desires,
your stars,
your moon
pressed against
my hard winds,
this storm
raging
between
your scented
blossoms,
fully challenging
the outcome
of these
late hours.

James Skinner Poem
where unfolding
on the night's
tapestry,
no stars
or golden
moment
appear,
even
the winds
sat
in silence,
waiting,
watching
the night
give birth
to
artistic
movements,
gather,
poised
and producing
colorful
streaming
radiance,
iridescent
colors weaving,
blazing
into existence,
each
flowing freely
and aggressively
within each
patient hour,
no remorse given,
none expected,
all conveying
such wonder
to the delight
of all
surveying
eyes.

James Skinner Poem
the sun noticed a change
as the winds blow colder
fewer warm days to tempt us
while the season grows older
overdue leaves begin to stain
turning landscapes satin bright
dusting the ground after falling
bright red and golden flames
twirling shadows in moonlight
as the winter cascades
bare trees waving their goodbyes
as autumn's beauty fades

James Skinner Poem
each touch
of
your electric
fingertips
sears my flesh
with desires,
touch me
again,
remove
all of my
inhibitions
leave me
naked with
my memories.

James Skinner Poem
she stands before me,
i am there, holding her,
not with my arms
but with my thoughts,
my mind races with
what beauty she displays,
her unwavering smile
speaking to me,
her eyes lighting
every moment,
there is a gentleness
to understanding her,
i am filled with
new found anticipation
and hopeful possibilities.

James Skinner Poem
i want to
not feel lonely
not so far away
i want to
think of her
not so far away
i want to
see her beauty
not so far away
i want to
be with her
not so far away
i want to
kiss her lips
not so far away
i want to
hold her tight
not so far away
i want to
love her
not so far away
i want to
but none
of this
is possible
so far away
