Terry Riley Poem
My honor I placed
On a sepulcher
A gift unto myself
I plunged a knife
Into it's heart
With betrayal
And excuses
Now -
Its death is
A dark shadow
Covering
My shame

Terry Riley Poem
Phantoms lurk in
The hallways of
My weak and
Tortured mind
Their shadows loom
Both night and day
No place
For me to hide
A wrong not mended
Eats away
A cancer unto
My soul
Redemption is lost
Hope that’s gone
For death has
Close the door

Dragging their shadow
A battalion of white clouds
Overtakes the Sun

Terry Riley Poem
My father drove a tractor
when I was a child
He raised black and tan coon hounds
And hunted the wild
When father wasn't looking
I'd go into their pen
crawl up inside the doghouse
So small and dark within
In explaining my notion
Felt safe starring out the door
World outside so far away
Like being in the womb once more

Terry Riley Poem
A clear bag of
Water
Hung by the
Door
Flies, Flies
Hundreds of Flies
Swarming
The back porch
A disguise
For through their
Eyes
A spider web
Distorted.
