Traces

Traces
In the wet sand
Footprints of gulls, and man
Disappear in the tidal dance
Of waves.

Traces
In the red dust
Feet of man, and horses
Up in canyons, leave no trace of
The brave.

Traces
In the garden
Of such delightful scents
In spring and summer by winter
Erased.

Traces
Of human life
Throughout world's history
However, are reported upon its
Pages.
Traces
Of wins and woes
Like hand prints upon walls
Can't be erased, for their foothold
Remains.

To See Eye To Eye

In blindness there is no peace

I walked in blindness
Upon the earth in darkness
For I only served myself.

I walked in ignorance
Upon the road of arrogance
And I never saw your stance.

I walked in judgment
Upon the law of confinement
But I never saw your detriment.

I walked in doubt
Upon a land in constant drought
Longing for a water spout.

I walked in fear
Upon a path quite unclear
That brought me to my knees.

I opened my eyes to see
Upon a wish to make a plea
And I saw your eyes full of tears.

I opened my eyes to read
Upon the look of an anguished sea
And I understood your story.

I opened my eyes to stand
Upon the will to hold your hand
And found we can both mend.

I opened my eyes to learn
Upon the light of knowledge earned
That a friend gained is a priceless return.

I walked into your path
Upon the hand of destiny’ s cast
And I entered the garden at last.

We walked into divine light
Upon which our heart soars high
Now we can see eye to eye.

Gold Refined

Unstable
Uneven ground
When you sit on a fault
For a heartbreak makes your faith
falter.

Restore
A broken trail
Requires sunshine and rain
Water cleansing the heart that needs
Warm rays.

Resource
From high above
Be the only recourse
To recover, the heavens charged
With force.

The Force
That never fails
May be at times at bay
By somber fearful clouds
A phase.

To build
Your inner strength
Which raises faith again
That the sunrise brings a new day
That grants.

New hope
Comes to restore
Your dream sleeping no more
The tarnished gold of your soul, refined
Bright ore.

A Reason To Live

The flower opens its chalice
Of tender petals to the sun
Pleasant object of the bee's fun
Making sweet honey in this bliss
Each to know what life brings, a gift.

The lily fears not the outcome
When the time comes to open
And offer the world its essence
It only knows it to be a good one
Pleased even when it is plucked out.

The rose will not open until
It is encircled in sunshine warmth
It dances in the light, a force
Felt to its core, trusting its will
To be a delight, its reason to live.

Sweet Seize

The breeze
Has blown my way
A brush of scented moisture
Like a kiss upon my flushed cheeks
Tender.
Aura
A sweet embrace
Of a presence nearby
That blends its thoughts with mine
Mind eye.
That sees,
A silent give and take,
That no one sees or hear
yet echoes throughout the heavens
It seems.
Aware
Thanks to the breeze
That moves over the sea
To brush a kiss upon the cheeks
Sweet seize.

A Prelude

Shy is the February sun Above the frazzled fatherland However hearts are not undone Giving instead a warmer brand Holding one closer under the sun.
A prelude to Valentine's day.

The Fire Inside

...And in the core
Burns a constant fire
Insatiable energy source
Providing life.

Know the fire inside
Constantly burning
Insatiable energy of life
Within the core of your being.

Precious heart upon a ride
Beating so fast a cadence
And other times quite mild
Let your love shine to no end.

The Legacy of Trees

To the divinity within all of us

The wind blows outside my window
Reeling mercilessly against the trees.

Its power deployed, their will to destroy
And I can hear them yell in rebellion.

Daring the wind to try with all its might
Had gone there before, they know the score.

They know the fury the wind can carry
Whatever is in store, they cannot ignore.

They stand out, proud, arms stretched out
Bonded are their souls, holding the same goal.

Their unity, a fortress that found no distress
They would face this trial as they did those prior.

It was their legacy born in tenacity
From the beginning, it was God given.

So that man would come to understand
The extent of his God given potential.

To walk his way through life's hills and valleys
Building character, until he is one in heart with the Creator.

Cheers and Whistles

I awaken to a lark’s song
 In early morning’s misty light
Spy it on a branch, softly shaking
In the gentle breeze, its fewer leaves
 Turned yellow gold
 Surround her so pretty,
Her song to me. Yes, I know
the lark sings to me

Its cheery new day song,
As if there were no tomorrow –
 It whistles in the evening
as if there were no
 Yesterdays. Soon it is joined
By another, oh! What a lark!
 What a pair they make!
I remember those same two larks
Not far in the past –

Last Spring, they stood together proudly
Day after day and through the summer; he
 Could go nowhere without her.
He, was the one who sang to her
 Each new morning, the one
Who courted her till each sundown,
Up to twilight when she fell asleep.

He was the one she couldn’t do without,
The one she could love forever, together
They had built the nest for their offspring
 Now grown,
 Now gone.
They’d been inseparable from day one,
 Even bickering, just two souls
 Disagreeing - still, he sang
To her in the morning, sang to her
 Under the setting sun, and

In the autumn of their life
 They sang together, cheery
As if there were no tomorrow
Whistling, as if there were no yesterday.

This morning
 I let out a sigh
 Remembering so well
 The dream I once held
 So tight.
 Will it come to pass?
 The answer came
From the larks song each morning,
Cheery, as if there were no tomorrow.
 Whistle in the evening,
As if there were no yesterday,
 And I sing each day
 With faith.
 I whistle each evening
To not let the sun go down
 On the morose, My love,

I will not let you down.

My Candle Light

My Candle Light

Sung to the tune of Simon and Garfunkel, “Bridge over Troubled Water”

Splendor in my life
Since you came by
A tender heart that shines
A voice of hope, my guide.
From the very start
I was warmed by your smile
I knew you were one of a kind
Like an angel standing by-y my side
My candle light
Like an angel standing by-y my side
My candle light.

Colors in my life
Crystal shine
Catching rainbow shades of light
With you I choose to fly.
My spirit reborn
Not evermore forlorn
For you are all I want
Like an angel standing by-y my side
My candle light
Like an angel standing by-y my side
My candle light.

My love, my light
Please take my life
My heart, my soul, my all
I give to you forevermore
I'm on your side
Oh, never fear, I'll never leave
Together we're destined to be
Like an angel standing by-y your side
I'm your candle light
Like an angel standing by-y your side
I'm your candle light. Your candle light.
