Randi Stephan Poem
I am away from my family
for sometimes over a year.
I put in long hours
away from those I hold dear
.
Yet sometimes I don't sleep
and sometimes I don't eat.
I sometimes feel like giving in
but I refuse defeat.
This job attacks your spirit
This job attacks your soul.
You sometimes think you'll lose yourself
But you must remember the goal.
I don't wear a uniform
I don't go to work everyday
But my job is important
I help pave the way.
You see my job is easy
yet difficult to do.
Not many can handle it
a few select, could you
I am on the home front
I suspend my life
So someone I love, for you can fight
I am a soldiers wife.

Randi Stephan Poem
I walk through the desert
with sand in my eyes
The people see me passing by
and all they can do is smile
Yet back home I step outside
and people stop to stare
Not because they know me
But because of what I wear
See I am a soldier
I fight for what is right
I stand up for freedom
I fight with all my might
Yet some may say I am wrong
that my job shouldn't be done
It isn't our place to fight for them
That we should be gone
But there is something they don't know
or seem to understand
My job is to fight for those who need us
no matter where the land.
I made a decision when I took this job
to fight the fight when needed.
To answer the call to go to war
no matter where we're headed.
So when you see us on the street
Just remember you are free
Because people answered the call
to fight for freedom like me.
