June 1

The Sun comes up with invitation to kids
To go outside and have a good time
Play in the pool, refreshingly cool
Oh so nice to have no school
To touch flowers that peak from the ground with natural power
To witness vowels being said so that the words come off as a novel
With heat that causes your pores to leak
And an intense light allowing for lunch outside
Birds are chirping, Meat is barbequing
For a family, a feast, with nephew and niece
Fruit-filled, watermelons and lemons
Ice cream to turn your exhaustion to a dream
Combined with grasses in vast masses
And the smell of overheated vehicles
A Sunny Day can be any day

Osamu

This poem is to you Mom, a soldier in battle
Whom watches over me so close, my never-fading shadow
I have learned so much from you, both good and bad
Through thick and thin, rain or shine, you I’ve always had
Because even through my flaws and faults you see me for who I am
You take me in, like a second skin, and have become my number one fan
I thought you knew everything Mom, my own personal Einstein
But now I see you are human like me, and that too, is just fine
Because I think you are tremendous just the way you are
So I write, with love and might, my mom always raises the bar

Hurt

Her anger is a slow acid eroding her soul
Looking only at the small picture, and never the whole
Her conscience, controlled by agony and defeat
Her emotions, an eruption of thoughts make-believe
Feelings strong enough to rock the earth
All diverged from one angle, Hurt
