I’m grateful that I have known
the love of my family
my friends
my wife
which has helped me understand
how vital love is to a life.
How important it is for us to love everyone
like they’re our sister or our brother…
because we’ll be remembered most when we’re gone
not by how much we have…
by how much we have loved one another
I am grateful every time I take a walk
along the shore, in a forest, up a mountain
when across their paths I’m lucky enough to roam…
For every time I do
I can hear nature whispering to me on the wind…
“It’s good to see you…welcome home!"
Today the gratefulness I’m feeling
actually comes in two parts…
I’m grateful for the glasses I’ve worn since I was a child
and for being born with a hopeful heart…
Both of these work together in tandem…
helping me to see…
the multitude of miracles
stretched out in front of me
Today I’m grateful I’m still able live a life
like when I was a child dancing outside on a rainy day
smiling
laughing
arms waving freely
unafraid of getting wet
enjoying every raindrop
and ever step along the way.
women were curvy and applauded for it in the forties and fifties
In the sixties, they wore pillbox hats, and Jackie O tweed suits
Twiggy was introduced as the one we were to emulate soon after
she had measurements like my own twenty, twenty, twenty
she must have subsisted on a teaspoon of cereal a day
maybe two peanuts and a sprinkle of juice
I am sure she was not allowed a whole apple
this is when teens began trying to starve themselves
I know because I was one of them
thinking I was enormously fat at one hundred and eight pounds.
Sherbet that is coming from lord
We drunk thanks to God
That ocean of power
We passed thanks to God
That opposite mountains
Chestnuts and vineyards
With health and purity
We overcame thanks to God
We were dry became wet
Winged and became bird
Now spouse to each other
We flew thanks to God
To the cities that we reached
To that sincere hearts we touched
To the people, meaning of worship
We scattered thanks to God

I’m grateful while living in a country so riddled with guns
where random people and school children are killed every day…
Where we send thoughts and prayers then try quickly to forget…
That I am still alive…and haven’t been gunned down…yet.
I am grateful for rainbows…
How across the sky they glide
I love the way they give me a chance
to see the sky’s smile from the other side.
Another thing I love about rainbows…
Is, as I’m standing on the ground,
They remind me I will never see one
If I’m constantly looking down.
I am grateful I learned this lesson early…
that travels with me everywhere….
People, instead of caring about how much I know….
would much rather like to know how much I care.
I am grateful for the honeybees…
who remind us no matter how hard we work
no matter our situation or circumstance….
We should slow down every now and then…
and take the time to dance
I am grateful for flowers…
how they always remind me…
that for everyone I meet in life
to make room…
because a flower
does not think of competing with
exploiting
or hurting the flower next to it…
all a flower does…
is bloom.
Like a work of art,
Formed from thought,
Detailed with steez,
Classic in taste, elegant in style

In the eighth month,
Infinity ?? stands
Not just to mark the month,
But to align with the day:
8/8 - Eight, Zero, Eight.
The hands of the Maker
Reflect His image
On the mold He shaped with passion.
Not merely a symbol,
But a living entity of grace.
He grew to become
Not just a human with intellect,
But a man of divine purpose.
And today marks another day
To remember the investment of trust,
The abundance of grace and mercy,
And the preservation of the soul.
I'm here to say,
Thank You
For all You've done
And all You're about to do.
Without You, I am nothing...
Help me, O Lord...
For Your love is better than wine.
May you be blessed every now
to listen to nature’s call…
and follow the music of a stream
until you discover a waterfall….
to sit there for a while
and forget about everything….
as the only sound you hear
is how the flowing water sings.
Lord, please put summer on pause...
everything is bathed in jade and bronzed.
Queen Ann's lac and curbside weeds,
beatified in the sweet, sautéed sunshine.
Everything is sheened in overabundance-
the aspen leaves are jiving on the breeze.
A cardinal is as plump as an uncut ruby...
for two weeks on- when the sun comes up
it weaves a song with lemon drops
is it taunting me or thanking the good lord
Lord, please put summer on pause
While I'm still enmeshed in bone and flesh
within the golden foothills of a heavenly crush.
you gave me love
and set me free
i spread my wings and flew
