Zacharius

There came to me a vision From out the wondrous sky That filled me with foreboding Till I heard the reason why. My wife would have a baby A son be ours at last A joy that we had hoped for For many years long past, And yet, I asked the Angel, How this could ever be, My wife and I were aged Too old for a family. “It shall be as I promised” The holy seraph smiled “The Lord has it command Your wife shall have a child, And he shall be a Herald This boy that you’ll call John And bring the news of Christ himself To each and every one.” But then the Angel noted That I doubted yet his word And ordained from that moment My voice should not be heard The silence is now over With the coming of this morn, And all here may rejoice it For my son, John, is born.
