Yours Truly

Here I lie in the field of dreams but sleep wont come for me, Restless I shall stay ‘til good fortune seeps away, And there’s nothing but myself to keep me sane, The path of opportunity stretching out in front of me, Only goes so far, Blocked by a fallen tree, No string to lead the way for me, The sign-posts have no words to read, No friend to hold my hand, And no eyes to watch me bleed. Everyone sleeps peacefully, Dormant souls surrounding me, Search for souls awake to be, Companion to yours truly. Here I lie in the field of dreams but sleep wont come for me, Restless I shall stay ‘til good fortune seeps away, And there’s nothing but myself to keep me sane.

This had me at the edge of my seat. Truly great flow here, James.

Some good imagery in this dream-like poem. The fallen tree and the blank sign-posts work well as poetic images in this kind of poem.
