You took my happy and you made it sad You took the words I wrote and made them bad You took my dreams and turned them into stone My hopes you killed and splayed me to the bone You took my smile and turned it into tears The freedom that I had you nailed with fear Whatever I held dear, you took away and naked here I stand with this to say: What's broken in your heart that makes you hate? What gnawing anger growls that you must sate? Look deep into your soul and try to heal The pain you have inflicted feels so real And while you sleep at night, I lie awake The smugness round your heart is dipped in hate You rise again without a single care Your insecurities the robe you wear And so I give to you all that you need I try in vain to live, but here I bleed Perhaps you'll look for me, and you will find My death was brought about by words unkind Eileen Manassian Ghali

My memory is kind of wonky today, but after reading this, that saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me", sorry or was that "words will always hurt me"?if it's the latter, I think it's so true, words can truly hurt so much-too much that it can break us inside. But I think, that whatever you are going through, Eileen, you can overcome. You are a strong woman. Take strength from those who love you. Somehow, Phil Collins' True Colors comes to my mind for you. Hugs!

This is so heartfelt. Your poem expresses your hurt but you've turned your pain into beautiful poetry. As your favorite author Paul says in the Bible, "Why not rather suffer being wronged than wrong others?"...I think, that's what you're rightly doing. Take heart. "This too shall pass".

Yes, those words of his are some of the hardest to take to heart, dear. I've used that myself when talking to others in Bible study groups. Thanks for the reminder. It's just when it happens repeatedly that it becomes hard to ignore. Thanks....dear. Bless you.

Two things that get to me are hate and backstabbing. Hate could sprout from jealousy...backstabbing, the sign of cowardice. I am sorry that you are feeling so hurt, Eileen, but don't dwell too much on negativity...there is a brighter side to life! hugs // paul

What causes it? That's the question. I've learned that people won't believe you no matter how hard you try, Paul. They won't give you the benefit of the doubt because of their own....hangups. I'm a bit better now, but I'm not out of the woods yet because this situation will not go away...I'm certain of that. However, I'm not ready to leave the site, so I have to deal with it best I can. Hey Eileen, stopped by for a visit and found this heartbreaking piece from you. I do personally understand the inner pain that this type of cruelty can cause. So now that you have been able to express it in words - let the light start shining in your eyes again; allow the sweet memories of love and good experiences to flow through your heart now - and whoever this person is - stay away from them forever!! Yes, dear. It is impossible to forget. It has happened repeatidly and I do believe that no matter what I do, this person's opinion will never change due to faulty assumptions. The sad thing is...it has influenced others. This is life. We must learn to cope. I do believe that staying away has it's benefits, but I've been been criticized for doing that. I appreciate the love I have received on this poem from people who are dear to my heart....The rest...as in the words of Hamlet...is silence. Hugs, dear
