You Hold Me Safe
You Hold Me Safe
You laugh
as I enwrap myself in kitten soft blanket
contentedly smiling warm.
Embossomed
You don’t understand yet, I see.
I bundle in tighter caressed by its softness.
Dear kitty kisses my neck and face.
Kisses that bring only warming.
Kisses that bring no warning.
Nights long ago weren’t safe.
I wasn’t left to rest.
I wasn’t left.
But I am safe with you.
You hold me safe.
You let me cuddle myself in safe and warm and kind.
In a hug of protection.
Never stripped raw or exposed.
Your need of me is never stolen.
And for the first time, I can sleep.
I can sleep
with you.
