You Don'T Say

You say that you are "Catholic" What exactly does that mean You eat fish on Friday Instead of eating meat? You say that you are "Baptist" And the Bible is the infallible truth I don't see how that is possible In the actions that you choose You say that you are "Jewish" One of Gods chosen few I never would have guessed that By much of what you do You say that you are "Muslim" And that you pray three times a day I'm not sure that helps that much Watching what you do and say I'm not here to bash religions That's not what I mean to do Just want to open up some eyes And myself I will include We talk up a good religious game Then live our lives like hell And that's what an unbelieving world my friend Simply finds unbelievable

I agree with Daniel, although I personally think there are still a lot of well meaning people that belong to these different faiths. :)

Mike, this is so true. We are all hypocrites at times, only pulling out the religious card when it suits our purpose. Great write my friend!

Hi Mike, This is a well written poem. When a person's life doesn't match what they profess it does look "unbelievable". Thanks for visiting my page:-) Alexis

Great lines Mike and I can really relate to what you say especially in the first 4 stanzas - I have no particular faith and shy away from writing religious poems. My dad was s staunch catholic -( I was not brought up with any faith as my mum is C of E) and I would say to him I can't understand how someone can commit a murder go to confession and be absolved for their sins!:-) hugs Jan xx
