You Are My Dream

Tread softly on my dreams, For they are frail and elusive things. I hold them closely to my heart. That is my most tender part. I can't lose sight of them today. They're all I have to make me stay. I'll let you share my dreams with me, But they're my dreams, can't you see? I let you in my heart long ago, And now I'm so afraid you'll go. The hurt, the harm, it cuts so deep, It breaks my heart and makes me weep. My dream is you and has always been, That is why--here I stay even when-- To avoid the pain, my mind says go, But I can't because I love you so.
