A misconception is the tale That we should dread October's spell Weird things happen, but do not fear It only comes but once a year Cornstalks, lanterns, pumpkin faces Cloudy nights, and creepy spaces Mummies hide by light of day Ghouls in shadows want to play Ghosts appear to take a peek Cats put on their black coat sleek Spider's weave around the room A wart-nosed witch has brand new broom Her sideways glance at mirror cracked Still sneers her ugly image back The cauldron cleaned with spit and shine Prepared to hold a drink of slime With tasty toads and wormy molds It boils steamy brew that's bold Graveyards readied, dark with gloom Bats in belfries wait for doom No need to dread the harvest moon All Hallow's Eve is coming soon They've all worked hard to be prepared Join the party, IF YOU DARE!!

Back in the fifties the merchants let us paint their store windows in town. All the grade school kids used to paint ghosts, witches, goblins, bats and all kind of Halloween pictures on all the store fronts. Of course, my biggest fears are still politicians and lawyers. Vince

wow what a joy to read. Big smile on my face. What a fun creative poem you have written. It brought back some old memories when I was young and Halloween was exciting and fun to be with your friends getting free candy and watching the children having so much fun. God bless Michael

Oh Yea what a great poem - I used to just love Halloween - Myself I always decked out as a Wizard - a Raven Mocker actually Donned the Attire quite well I might add - Now I'm just the cool old dude that passes out the candy - Actually I put the bowl out and put a note - "I wouldn't dare take more than my share" and my daughter and I hit the town - The Convalescent Home, Fire Dept, Police Station, The real score at the N.A. Hall, the hospital etc. Great poem & God Bless
