Yo Yo
As I wake to the
sounds of Robins in
the Thicket
I lift myself out of
bed, morning coffee
the ticket.
Breakfast defrosted
in microwave, toast?
a slice,
Shower and head off
to work, weather so
nice.
On the bus so many
frowns, Mondays have
no joy,
This kid gets on
Yo-Yo in hand, this
so old toy.
He beams at me ,
smile so happy and
bright,
" Look at what my
Gramps gave me last
night!"
I smile back at him
and say
"Great..Splendid."
He attempts to do a
roll and return, so
horrid.
Let me show you I
said, took the
string and rolled,
My youth came
flooding back in
waves, I tooled.
Walk the dog,
Sleeper, Breakaway,
all in the bag,
Then Elevator ,
Spaghetti and
Jamaican Flag.
Handed The toy back
and got off, at my
place
Heard a Noise turned
to see smiles on
each face.
Bravo, hurrah, the
screams, breaking
into applause.
I Bowed and bounced
off to work..
smiles..I the cause.
