Yesterday
Yesterday when we were two
There was not quite as much to do
Now today that we are three
The washing’s piling up you see
Tomorrow when we will be four
It will pile up a whole lot more
Those tiny hands and tiny feet
Make time to have a faster beat
There’s no time to sit and think
As washing piles up in the sink
The days they go a rushing by
Just like the blinking of an eye
I know you wouldn’t change the way
That we are living here today
For empty house that’s void of noise
And mess and clothes and strewn toys
No sound of laughter in the air
Would make our lives so dull and bare
I thank you dear for all you do
The washing cooking and cleaning too
Through all the chores you do all day
With little thanks and sod all pay
You can still find time to smile
That’s what makes my life worthwhile
