The title looked like fun and so it is. great rhyme and some silliness I needed today as I have the flu.

Hey Clay, Thanks for reading "Priceless Gifts". I missed this the other day..I've not been lucky to see an owl outside of a zoo..What inspired you to write this poem? Love, Annalise

Anne Lise, I'd say my inspiration was not really so very overwhelming. After sharing my Won't You Adop One Long Term Companion with an audience, I was challenged by a fan to write about a cat (his favorite animal pet) the owl portion of the rhyme was inspired by that 19th century rhyming tale by LEAR, the owl and the pu$$y cat. A bit of irony here; in the 48 hrs. where i was giving thought to this idea of rhyming the owl vs. the cat, i did see two owls in flight in the wee hours of the night, two nights in a row...

Oddly as I was giving thought to rhyming the 'OWL' word I saw in the wee hours two owls in as many nights. For this mega-metopolis, the San Francisco Bay Area, I can't recall having seen more than the occasional owl once every few years. Thanks Anne Lise for taking time to read and comment on this piece. oxox - back at you.
