Worlds Apart
You said you have, and I have not anything –
You are monied, and I am down and helpless
So let me alone to my fate to go
Away from you to my lonely abode
To on my lonely bed rest, and romance poverty
And sing her praises that is my newfound love
And enjoy to the fullest over empty laughs that never crossed teeth:
The world has treated me so.
You said you have, and I have not anything –
You are monied, and I am down and helpless
So let me alone to my fate to go
Away from you to my lonely abode
To timelessly dine and wine with poverty
On a tableless banquet of sad memories and sorrows
And sing praises to the one who brought me here:
The world has treated me so.
You said you have, and I have not anything –
You are monied, and I am down and helpless
So let me alone to my fate to go
Away from you to my lonely abode
To enjoy rest of mind in free sweet cry
And the rivers, Niger and Benue, flood with innocent hot tears
Of a man who knows not what next to do, where to go next–
The world has treated me so.
