Work Or Art

Many people are judgemental upon first glance of my walls I see my small child's artwork building her up tall How could you let her draw on everything? Oh what a disaster! Headstrong and independent she's no puppet but her own master For an autistic child who wouldn't pick up a crayon marker pencil or pen She amazes me everyday to no end She's tapped into her creativity and it has no bounds She also struggles with sensory processing disorder and her art helps her drown out those scary sounds She expresses herself through her art From the blood in her veins pouring from her heart She's jumped so many hurdles and through her art she's pulling out more words Her very first "I love you" is by far the sweetest thing I've ever heard It was difficult for her to form a sentence let alone sing a song Her voice is like that of an angels, forgive me but to take a pen from her feels wrong Her detailed drawings are inspiring and bring so much hope They bring a smile to my face and heart, no anger or scolding nope nope nope She needs compassion and understanding not strict limitations Shes already surprised many with a negative outlook far exceeding their expectations She doesn't give up and holds her head high It's been an honor and privilege to watch her strive as she spreads her wings to fly She smiles and laughs at the impossible She's quick on the draw as she proves it all plausible With all of her potential there's no telling how far she will go With her faith and belief in herself she'll reach the stars as she continues to grow
