Words From the Wiser Me

What would the future, wiser me The lonely widow I'm sure to be Say to me, today How precious, his baritone groan To muted ears left all alone Once he's flown away Life's rivers drain abruptly swift So recognize this moment's gift Within his arms - stay. 6/10/20 For 'Triple Stanza Tail-Rhyme' contest Sponsor: charles messina

wow... if only our wiser self could speak to us in our younger years and tell us what to do and how to handle things, maybe life would be easier at times... love this one, I am not familiar with the form but regardless I think it's a great write, and I have read it twice already! best wishes in the contest... hugs

Well said and done, but everyone expected my late wife to be a widow as she was much younger than I. Most especially with the pandemic, every moment should be precious! Aloha! Rico

You are so right about those swiftly draining rivers. The beauty is you recognize it and can value the one you love with a deeper sense of worth. So glad to be thinking these thoughts because of your shared words, Michelle. I'm inspired by them to do as you have written. Best wishes in the contest, friend.
