Wonderstruck

In Nazi times, lives were put in danger. Good folks hid Jews so that they would not die. Imagine risking one’s life for a stranger! Wonderstruck by something such as that am I! And many other acts of bravery I’ve heard about have made me want to cry. What sacrifice throughout history! Wonderstruck by mankind’s valiant acts am I. Are acts of courage plentiful today? Or rather – are such acts in short supply? A narrow path not easy is God’s way. Wonderstruck by righteous path-takers am I. Nov. 21, 2021 Entered Jan. 23, 2022 in 'A STRAND (1058)' Poetry Contest

Acts of bravery leave us with wonder ~ sometimes bravery comes through the written word. I think we all must wonder if we would have the courage in a similar condition. Your wonderful poem makes us think (a good thing!) Congratulations on your big win :)

I share that same sense of awe when reading or hearing about such heroic acts when faced with danger. It makes me wonder whether I would respond with courage or cowardice if put in the same situation. I'm sure there are many acts of heroism that go unreported and are unknown to most people.

Reads like a good contender for the contest to me. Way to go. I have seen some movies and read some stories about what went on during that horrible period of time and I am glad some stood up for what was right and helped those being treated in such a horrible manner. I am delighted that you visited my page. Oh, I see the contested has been judged so congrats. Sara

That last line in the first stanza makes this whole poem. I was wonderstruck when I first read it. Had to reread it in awe several times. As the backbone of this verse, it makes me see what a bard you are!

Great rhyming and excellent way to open up the minds of your readers to idea of men and women of courage; those tht choose to aim high and live righteous. I do believe heros and heroess are prevalent today. The media just floods the people with the negative. What a shame. The good news needs to be courageously spread, not just the "Good News". You friend and fellow poet, Bill

That's what makes a hero a hero. He stands out from the crowd. The greatest Hero of them all took the sins of everyone on the face of the earth on His shoulders and stood strong in the face of extreme cruelty and horror. A beautiful write Andrea. God Bless, JB

Beginning with Cain, man has proved to be always violent. Fortunately some are still compassionate. Hugs
