Wondering

WONDERING There are times I look at my life, its struggles and its trials, And all the ways I failed the Lord along the many miles. I wonder how the Lord above could still look down and say, “I still love you, I sent My Son to die for you one day.” When life for me is over here and I face the Judgment Throne, I wonder how the Lord could say, “I welcome you now home. You’re here to stay forever, child, I’ll never cast you out. I don’t remember sin you did or all the times of doubt. You see, My blood had covered all the day you trusted Me; I bore it all that day below upon Mount Calvary.” So, though I spend time wondering how the Savior could love me, And though I think so many times and with that logic see No way that I, a sinful wretch, who knew the right from wrong Could stray in sin for all those years and wander for so long, And still be loved, forgiven, too, for sins I did commit, And hear the Lord then say to me, "I don't remember it!" I realize God knew it, too, so long ere I was born, Yet still He chose to bare it all upon the cross that morn. I may walk down the streets of gold and wonder just a bit How God could make a place like this and take me there to it, And I may with my wondering eyes behold that land so fair And wonder what I ever did deserving to go there. But quickly will the answer come as I live there above, The wondering I had on earth was answered by His love!
