I am watching Andy Griffith re-runs because the newer shows scare me, and I am so entertained by Andy and Barney playing off each other. In one recent episode Barney was commenting how disrespectful kids are "these days" - in the 60's. It never stops. We have the same feelings, and the same fears, but we have the same successes and the same enjoyments too. We are so cyclical. I am still seeing a lot of "Human initiative, drive, creativity, ingenuity" and I do believe you are also.

Love those Mayberry reruns. Old Barney was something, wasn't he?! And how about Gomer and Goober?! --- Not to mention Floyd, the barber or Otis, the town drunk... Those WERE the days... :) gw

Hear, hear. Sadly there are those who make a living out of scaring us to death.

Oh, yes! Excellent point! The gloom-and-doomers, those 'nattering nabobs of negativity,' as V.P. Spiro Agnew referred to them about 50 years ago, have come to dominate political discussion in the USA... And remember Malthus, with his 'population explosion crisis' in 1898? What came of his dire predictions back then? … Woe to those of little faith!! :) gw
