Questions exist with no answers In my quest for origins and ends I see others like me, sociable open to beauty, struggling to know divinity- Yet in all my quiet contemplation I cannot screen out war or incomprehensible cruelty The ranks in uniform, the tanks the weapons of destruction The history which never wipes out thought of new aggressions Boundary fences, treeless camps ugly emotions, shouting, fists the build-up to destruction The sudden hurt, the grinding discomfort The tears, the flowers, the prayers with hope and reverence Our pity for the suffering We blame God not seeing his mercy yet only he above all sees everything

So glad you could stop by. Yes regretfully, due to a busy life My poetry fell by the wayside - a Muse interrupted. I try to join in the contests whenever I can. I admire your constant stream of writing. Way to go friend.

God does not create wars. It is people creating the havoc. XXX

The Ten Commandments if followed would save mankind from self destruction but hubris and strong will overrides the wisdom unfortunately. SuZ

i have been following this since the dawn of the neolithic period when agriculture produced abundance and it brought, in reality, armies....such rich questions you raise, and alas....the only answer i have come up with....manunkind....but the reality is it is not the whole story...and therein the blessing....

Yes, the quest for power and greed are the seeds for destruction, Timray: I know you have read endlessly on all these questions and find no easy answers. SuZ

A wonderful piece with rich wisdom and truth that needs to rise to highest levels of the world's "leaders". We're abandoning God; He's still there patiently and sadly waiting. :-)

A sensitive person wonders why there is cruelty and war. We often blame God for our miseries. But they are our own make and we are responsible for most of it. It is our choice most of the time. Those who are compassionate feel sorry for the misery of others. An insightful poem, dear Suzanne

Insightful poetry, SuZ. the tragedy of war is that there is war. There's no need to kill other people. Hate adds to the problem, Love is the answer, but the price is too much for most to pay. Very thought-provoking poem my friend. I hope you find the answers you are searching for. Hugs, Bill

Hi Bill: Thanks for your insightful comment. So many men march to war fearing death but they march anyway. Which triggers more questions. What motivation is stronger than the fear of death? Fear of being labeled a coward? Or, fear of loss of liberty? A riddle with few answers. Hugs, SuZ

We can be cruel but can also be merciful and giving, and it is our choice what to be

I like this faith-based work. I don't know but I do know in a way why man destroys himself, others and the earth. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

Hi Sara: This is one of my earlier poems from 2003. I‘ve reached the conclusion that Mankind is willful and gives in to temptation very easily. Each individual makes choices and lives with the consequences of those choices. Some are caught up in the disasters of other’s bad choices and so it goes on. The battle of good and evil. SuZ

He certainly does Suz, many quick to blame God for their woes, they need to look closer to home. Hope you're well keeping well. Tom
