Winter's Freeze
The wind tears through the barren trees
An onslaught now of winter's freeze
To shake the house in dead of night
As if for sleep there was no right
The people lie in bed awake
Wishing they'd had a better fate
Thinking back not long ago
When daytime came but not with snow
The days were warm and worry free
Not filled with cold nor misery
But now the time has come at last
To taste the fury of winter's blast
But inside now the house still glows
And eases the bite of winter's blow
A refuge now a place to stay
Through the worst of any day
