Winter's Blanket
A
lovely
snowflake floats
through the winter
sky, slowly falling,
spiralling downward to
the dark, icy earth below.
One solitary flake followed
by another, each unique, flawless
in design. One by one they fall to the
ground, merging together, becoming a
crystaline blanket of white over
the dormant earth, like pristine, white
sheets covering forgotten
relics of the past in
a slumbering old
mansion. Until
spring arrives
the earth
sleeps.
