Winters a Thief
Steel coloured sky days
Lawns wearing white coats.
Misty mornings hide the coming day.
Breath hanging there
Where they words or just hot air.
Lakes frozen solid
Mere mortals walking on water.
Squirrels dancing on skeleton trees.
To the sound of bird calls.
Dogs better dressed than their owners
being taken for a spin.
Shorter days, longer nights
to dream of sun kissed beaches.
you leave for work no sign of light
return in darkness another day lost
winters pick pocketing your life one day at a time.
