Winter Willow

Within the bounds of winter's grasp A frozen willow bends Tolerating icy boughs Of which she can't defend. Branches reaching to the ground Are anchored deep in snow Withstanding life's unkind torment Of weather harsh and cold. Another season comes to pass She waits majestically For warmer clime and sunny days To set her branches free. Birds appear as spring unfolds Rejoicing winter's end Empty cold and darkness gone Her leaves are green again.
