Winter Streams
LIFE’s STREAMS IN WINTER
The rivers, brooks, the winter bourns and streams
Seem all in haste, they flow in rapid course
With no time now for idle summer dreams
Compelled by purpose resolute with force
While gentle flows meandered then, no care
Nor firm direction, save to drift at ease
The waters now by constant vector bare
Implacably are drawn toward the seas
As I on my life’s woven course move on
Denying still a destination sure
I choose a path that’s not on lines pre-drawn
Nor tracked to end of dubious allure
I’ll drift at times in vales of tranquil winding
Yet disregard the banks that would be binding
