Winter Is On His Way

Now autumn is fading slowly away and nights lengthen oh! too soon marches in winter with icy chilly fingers that every thing touched falls into deep slumbering sleep . as soft pure white flakes fall thick and fast covering all/ Letting us know that it will be long till the sun breaks winter's time to rule with Jack Frost playing his jokes. Water slows and often freezes as it touches frozen land hoar frost covers the trees. icicles descend from branches. The earth becomes a wonder land that sparkles and twinkles as we huddle in front of roaring log fire that hiss and spit sullenly at us sending showers of red hot sparks of weird colours that enchant and beguile us with heavenly pine scents. The air is full of different scents and spices from all the goodies that have been baked, tantalizing our taste buds and we think Winter is not so bad as we sing carols and play the usual games while we tear open all the delightful presents under the tree

Soon winter will come with her icy fingers and most of the people will stay indoors ! It has its boon and bliss alike. We don't have winter here in my place. However winter season is a beauty to behold from far. "The earth becomes a wonder land that sparkles and twinkles as we huddle in front of roaring log fire that hiss and spit" Beautiful description dear Shadow.

This one is very descriptive of the times ahead except for in the south we don't have snow very often. I enjoyed reading your lines. Thanks for sharing your work with us and for dropping by my page. Sara

Your way with conveying thoughts and feelings is so very descriptive and poetic. I absolutely love the way this flows and how you’ve woven words in such eloquence. I especially love the lines “ showers of red hot sparks of weird colours that enchant and beguile us with heavenly pine scents.” Just wow! That’s unique and very creative how you’ve phrased that! I am in awe captivated! Sending you light today and always

This is such an enchanting seasonal poem Shadow. So very descriptive and depicted beautifully. You’ve created some lovely, vivid images,’ as soft, pure white flakes full thick and fast covering all,’ ‘ hoar frost covers the trees’ ‘ roaring log fire’. Delightful! Love the last two lines with the arrival of the most magical time of the year’. So enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing. Hugs to you
