Winter Dream
while laying my head
to rest one night
i dreamed a dream
was an awesome sight
winter came
in the middle of spring
creeping like shadows
and the shade they bring
twelve stone statues
stood so tall
each one was just
about to fall
into the snow
which covered the land
testing the shadows
by which they stand
all the creatures
some grate some small
the old stone wall
that the vines did crawl
gathered the dust
all around the pit
where the ice started
to shatter and split
the hungry calls
of the homeless men
sounded out
for pennies when
the sun broke free
for a second or two
just before the
cold wind blew
still the flowers rise
and the tree leaves take flight
holding on to
their loosing fight
the wind raged
and the blizzard stung
with a sound
penetrating every one
the rivers freeze
and the spring time ends
the battle is lost
no matter what it sends
winter is here
and it never will go
all the rivers
will cease to flow
a years not past
but winters been twice
all of us
must sacrifice
plenty a man
has wished for sun
but its rise
has never begun
so i wake from my dream
then dream again
for all i seen
just seems the same
by time by time
i take my pen
and scratch my rhyme
