Christmastime has come and gone...
decorations slowly put away.
From festive to bare, colorful to drab;
and likewise, my euphoria fades.
The house is quiet, the stores are dull;
back to normal...the blues set in.
Winter skies of varied ashen grays
bring snow, cold temps, and wind.
Hibernation now beckons me...but I
go on...survive the emptiness.
Winter's end is far and out of reach;
I feel as bleak as the clouded sky.
Old problems surface once again,
no longer hidden in the festive maze.
They come, front and center, bury me
in the drifts of my mind's blizzard.
Depression shadows memories
of the holiday season's sparkling joy.
Out on a lonely walk, tears roll down.
Where have those uplifting rays gone?
Family, coming together, sharing
presents, love, and peace; good times.
I yearn for hope on the far horizon;
rebirthing of life...the coming spring.
