Winning the Battle

Lungs burning for air Head spinning just a little Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp Sweat dripping into my eyes Soaking my clothes Hiding any tears I may have needed to shed Sprinting that last hundred meters Stepping over the finish line Crowds erupting You've won the battle And when you open your eyes The crowds are gone You're drenched with sweat Alone on the empty track Gasping for air... And sometimes That's just what you needed
