Romance me with your flirty breeze, Susurrate songs in leafy trees. March winds you clash with tidal flows, Keep waves in hindered highs and lows. Your power paves a mockery Of gentleness I long to see. Won't you return our springtime bliss Caressing cheeks with tender kiss? Don't make meek martyrs of the trees When you uproot them as you please. Training tornados torrid path In tempest tears you display wrath, When all along I know you hold A sacred spirit of the bold. So beguile me with tender touch With wind songs that I love so much, And I will be your maiden fair; You may finger my golden hair. On through autumn our love will grow, With wayward windy hearts aglow. 9-11-16 Your Best Poem From Any of Laura Loo's Contests - Poetry Contest Sponsor Laura Loo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STANDARD CONTEST NO 125,ANY FORM,ANY THEME,UPTO A MAX OF 20 LINES Sponsor Brian Strand ~First Place~

Imagery, personification and alliteration...a beautiful mixture for a beautiful poem, Connie! I get on well with the wind, as long as it is not too strong, and it does have different songs and tunes! ~ Regards // paul

Thank you Paul. Here in the islands the wind is essential or the humidity becomes intolerable. ; )

Thanks Connie. That's sweet of you. I always try my best to understand what I'm reading. As far as Washington goes I've never lived there ... but I've lived just one state over all my life: Idaho ... so I've visited the Puget Sound a couple times, at most. I should be moving in a month to Georgia, however, so that should be different! You're not only a great poet, Connie, but also a great comment-er ... writing with intelligence and encouragement simultaneously!

The wind you describe is of the romantic variety. Very pretty. I liked how even though the wind lost his temper now and then, you still see his more gentle nature. "Don't make meek martyrs of the trees as you uproot them as you please" ... now that's a great line. I seem to remember you saying you lived in Washington for a time --- I didn't think anyone would catch on to my random reference to the Puget Sound!

You understand exactly what I was trying to express in my poem Timothy, probably because you are a master at metaphor. We have bays and harbors and points here, but nothing we call a sound here in Hawaii. Do you live in Washington state? I still miss it after all these years, I have lived in Hawaii over 35 years.Thank you for such an insightful comment my friend. ; )

so wonderful to see this one with its picture. HOw can some people criticize us putting pictures up with out poems? I think it makes it all so fun. a SEVEN for your lovely personification.

I like to write my poem and then search for the perfect picture to go with it. I do believe a lovely picture is able to enhance a poem. Thank you Andrea. You know I live where we have a lot of welcome wind on the hillside and I dearly love it, which is my reason for making this romantic. ; )

"Your power paves a mockery of gentleness i long to see." Great line - what with the way the wind has been wasting the southern states and the corn belt. Super write all the way through. Love, DAve

Very nice expressions of the wind's powers, Connie. You commend him but also rubuke, "Don't make meek martyrs of the trees When you uproot them as you please."
