Willow Oak
My leaves soak up the summer rain
Before the sun peeks out again
And birds return to sing their songs
On my lofty branches where they belong
Then I watch as robin red breast
proceeds to build its little nest
I watch the hatchlings as they grow
In the warmth of summer's glow
In winter, when all my leaves are gone
I long to hear sweet bird songs
But I will abide until the spring
When my leaves return with birds that sing
