Why We Serve
We do not serve to go to war,
Or hear the bullets and fly boys roar.
We join for many a varied reason,
To better ourselves, to help others succeed in.
This our world that we all share,
Our joys our burdens we all must bare.
So do not look and wonder why,
We men and women do not want to die.
We simply want a better life,
For our sons our daughters and for our wives.
And if one day they come to call,
For skills we have where some might fall.
We do not go with a holler and yell,
For we brothers and sisters know how many have fell.
They gave it all as we may have to,
For the Queens shilling will have its due,
A price I'll pay though not without pain,
A price I'll pay as my loved ones have gained.
Through this my choice to stand side by side,
With others like me who try to turn the tide.
The tide will always wash away the sights and smells of the battle that day.
But once a year we ask you to remember,
That day, this year, the 13th of November.....
