Why We Fight
WHY WE FIGHT
We fight to guarantee the right
to life and love and liberty
protecting all the things we might
be taking all too casually;
we fight defending how we live
our differences, from day to day
and how we take, or how we give
and even how, or if we pray;
we fight so all will have a chance
if we're accused, the world will know
the verdict won't be circumstance
until the jury says it's so;
we fight for lame, and for the old
for children learning right or wrong,
we fight so truth is always told
for all the weak, and for the strong;
we fight so you can have a gun
or not, but so you'll have a choice
in saying what has to be done,
so you and yours will have a voice;
we fight so evil can not be
allowed to get its hold onto
the least of all of you and me
so fight on is what we must do.
