Why We Are Losing Battle With Covid

I should imagine it is the same everywhere, With gangs free to turn up anywhere, As the exception to the lock down rule over here, With police giving them an escort to get there. They were always going to be the fly in the ointment, That would increase the need for an oxygen tent, And encourage discontent, From others who were once content, To listen with intent, When told not to go to an event Where Covid is hell bent, To havoc rent, All because gangs are given freedom to its fullest extent, While others are left to lament, Inaction by those who should have taken the hint.

Americans, hopelessly hung up on the 'absolute sanctity of freedom,' will never again make a difficult national sacrifice for any reason. ~ Just sayin' (Here come the Chinese, who will run over the USA with spiked shoes all too soon).

We are not at that stage but if we do not learn fast we will be. We are bracing for more protests by people who do not understand freedom has to be paid for and that actions have consequences or that just very occasionally we might need to go along with a decision that we may not relish to survive so our grandchildren have the closest thing to democracy that is possible. Take care and do not give up hope of a better future. Poetry I am sure will play a part in keeping that hope alive. David in NZ
