Why Cut Flowers

Here's a bundle of colorful things. I cut their heads off to give you. So you could own them. It's not like I stole them from nature. You can put them in water so they'll live a little longer. Eventually, they'll die though. I don't like killing beauty. Never thought about it...much. I did it to show you that I care. Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing. And, we made six million songs, poems and pictures about doing this too. Not sure why either.

I agree with what you write. I believe plucking flowers is like taking life and that too for meaningless reason

I dislike cut flowers for those very reasons ~ for my wedding bouquet, I had three long stem roses.

Always tough ta go against the wave but ya know it does sometimes make for potent poetry. I truly think I deserved the tenth place. Felt so sorry for the last place guy.

Often when we are so hard wired in the opposite direction, it's difficult to absorb. Think of it this way, how many images in antiquity do you recall of vases filled with cut flowers or on indigenous wall paintings? Thanks ever so Gary.

I had to smile when I read this Greg. I have to tell you something funny. My husband raised roses for me, actually for us, as he loved flowers too. Their beauty and perfume lasts so much longer when I cut them and bring them inside in the air-conditioning and in water. They get spoken to and told how much they are loved. One particular rose was so beautiful that I would kiss it each morning and beg it not to die. You know, all the other roses died and that one remained vibrant three days longer!

Botanists know that talking to plants makes a difference. More than chemicals through the air, they infuse intelligence somehow. So much yet to learn. Me thinks it's part of the universal consciousness. What a telling story of roses you tell here. You have so much to give. Thank you for spending some time with me.
