Who Knew the Moon Could Fly

It rose above the canyon rim As if a child's kite; And glowed as if a candle dim To usher in the night. And gently did it touch the sky With a golden beam of light; Who knew the moon could fly so high... And so peacefully delight? ~Mel

Well, things could be better, and things could be worse--the philosophical answer. Funny, this propensity of mine to personify and romanticize nature. As a kid, nature was merely which tree to climb :) I guess at some point I grew-up (regrettably) and began to notice moonbeams, roses, the blue-green sea and the feather-flakes of snow; oh, and which tree to climb!

Beautiful! I love how you've compared the moon to a child's kite. Nice imagery. Soft and subtle.

Thank you, Divya. If I aspire to anything in my writes, it's a soft and seamless flow with some decent imagery. The kite? It popped in my head, and I built a poem around it. Thanks again for the visit and inspiring comments...xxx...Mel
