Who Is Your Neighbor

A young family that lives in the house next door, and across the street there lives one more; The homeless man living on the street, a teenager, headphones on, rocking a beat, an elderly widow, infirm and alone, the ex-con who is sorry and trying to atone; Christian, Buddhist, Pagan or Jewish, white, black, brown, yellow or bluish: If your heart is beating and we happen to meet, then you are my neighbor whom I'll gladly greet! 8/31/15 For Mystic Rose' "Who is Your Neighbor" contest

Thank you, Anne-Lise! I based this poem on Jesus' story of the Good Samaritan, which in essence tells us everyone is our neighbor.

Howdy neighbour, I'm the little bluish guy from the planet Zog, just passing by to say hi lol, and to wish you good luck in the contest. This is really good. Take care, Richard

Richard, I literally laughed out loud when I read your comment! I based this poem on Jesus' story of the Good Samaritan. Granted He doesn't mention little blue guys from planet Zog, but I used a little poetic license to rhyme with Jewish.

Thank you, Sara! When I first read about this contest, the first thing that popped in my head was Jesus' story of the Good Samaritan.
