White Sail

Wild water wash my cares away. West wind blow me free. White sail fill my heart with joy. Sing my soul with glee! Sky now be my sanctuary. Ocean be my home. Cover me in clouds and spray. Let me out to roam. Don't nourish me with selfish lies. Remove the glib deceit. I don't want this earth of yours Beneath my shackled feet. Old dreams take these bonds away. New dreams give me lease. Take me out to live again On the stormy sea of peace. Written April 19, 2016

The last line is what struck my fancy after a masterly lead up to it. It is a seeming paradox and can be taken both metaphorically and literally. To me it says that the exhilarating contest with nature--that ultimate distraction--drives all of our cares, worries, and regrets from our mind as we concentrate on that single purpose. Quite different from the typical concept of peace being a quiet place with no distractions.

Masterpiece! Feeling like sailing in a cruise breathing west wind. Greatly woven imagery. Stay safe.
