Whispers In Church

Magnificent cathedral Saints and sinners gather in Word of God delivered To triumph over sin Within the walls Between the pews You hear the faintest cry Whispers in the church house In the sweet by and by Quiet prayers Sent up to God Repentance for the sin Committed in the quiet night Where no man wants to live In hopes that God Will grant a pardon For acts of immortal sin The best of intentions Laid out in prayer Amazing grace to win Secretly hoping God’s grace and mercy Finds favor on your soul Sending up promises Acts of contrition Heart’s willing to mourn Is he still listening? Do you still wonder? Has he turned a deaf ear? No answer is given While here on this earth You’ll find out in the beginning

Very thought-provoking questions you ask in your 3rd stanza and I just got inspired with your first 2 stanzas--I am one of those countless ones who speak their whispers in Church and only hope that my prayers are answered--thanks for this write, Josh--nikko :)

Awesome poem Josh. Sometimes when I am in worship, similar thoughts come to my mind. Have a good one. Yours truly: Sheol
