Where Have All the Ladies Gone

Where have all the ladies gone? They exchanged their dresses for suits and jeans and cut off their hair to be more like men. (But we're not men, nor meant to be them; being manly isn't "freedom".) Where have all the ladies gone? They traded their gentility for boyish masculinity. (But gentle grace is feminine. Why should women act like men?) Where have all the ladies gone? They despised their charm and special skills, like etiquette and cooking meals. (But these are valuable assets too--- not just the things that men can do.) Where have all the ladies gone? They ceased to complement the men and started to compete with them. (But men lost their respect for women when women started trying to be them...) Where have all the ladies gone? Instead of mothers, we have daycare; instead of husbands, government welfare. (But society needs its ma'ams and misses: Its mothers in aprons and prim hostesses.) Where have all the ladies gone--- our great grandmothers' generation, who we regard with admiration? They had virtues we have lost in our quest to be the boss. Where have all the ladies gone? Perhaps someday we'll realize that gals don't have to be like guys; that ladies make the world much sweeter, and there are things they just do better. Where have all the ladies gone? Gracious women whose dignity was in their femininity? Ladies are as ladies do... I'm proud to be a "Ma'am"; are you?
