When We Were Wallflowers

We used to see each other in our raw beauty, Writing poetry on each other's skin. We used to look at the stars, Hoping one day we'd be up there together for all eternity. I used to stare into your ocean eyes, And you stared into my hazel ones, Peering into the depths of my soul. Each kiss felt like an everlasting fire and heated me up inside, But that ended. We grew up, And the fire died inside, You got used to seeing someone else, You used the same skills I taught you on another wallflower, And you're with her now. When We Were Wallflowers, my dear, I loved you like a first love would.

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.
