When Vinnie Died
At the hour of death
that final breath
was like a gust
of a mighty wind, it
was full of sparkles
like champagne, the bubbles
released all demons
and sorrows the body
harbored in life, then
a Quiet, a Still, as if freed
at last, Peace, and
Vinnie fell back
with arms outstretched
that failed to reach
his waiting wife.
