When Summer Walked Into My Garden
My garden had
A different look
When summer
Opened her book
On all things that
Had to be done
Arriving early with
Morning sun.
In she waltzed
Smiling wide
With roses and
Irises side by side.
Robins stayed to sing
With beautiful butterflies
Prancing with painted wings.
Hostas curled, left
Over from spring.
Summer smiled, moving
Between magnolia trees and
Dogwoods pink
Waving in her gentle breeze.
My garden sings in
Summer delight,
Yellow primrose open
Just at twilight.
Summer joys in my garden
Do play
I give thanks for the pleasures
Of summer days.
